The Illinois Community College Board honored Waubonsee Community College's The Outcomes Project (TOP) with a 2005 Award for Excellence in Teaching and Learning Jan. 24, 2006 at a ceremony in Springfield. TOP celebrates the differences, as well as the commonalities, among disciplines and works to assist faculty in the development of innovative and useful assessment tools that are effective and relevant. As TOP continues to mature, the message will become clear that outcomes is an integral part of the organizational fabric. Teri Leatherbury, Executive Assistant to the President; Dr. Karen J. Stewart, Dean for Learning Resources; and Stacey Randall, Outcomes Assessment Specialist, accepted the award on behalf of Waubonsee Community College.

January 31 - February 1, 2007. The TOP Open House successfully met all the goals of the event including showcasing the new office location, broadening staff and faculty knowledge about outcomes and program review and introducing our new staff to the college community. Approximately 120 people visited the open house throughout the two day period including full time and adjunct faculty, staff, and administrators from both the Sugar Grove and Aurora campuses.
In order to facilitate the continued success of the program, college resources were reallocated in August 2006 to provide for an Outcomes Department headed by the Outcomes Coordinator (FT) and supported by a Learning Outcomes Specialist (FT) and an Outcomes Assistant (PT). This increase in physical and fiscal resources allowed The Outcomes Program to build on its momentum and assist even more faculty with their Outcomes Strategies. In addition, the department has been given the responsibility of overseeing program review at the college. Since program review is so closely linked to outcomes assessment, we have reevaluated the current program review procedures in order to streamline them and involve faculty more consistently and at a deeper level.
