Fall Faculty Orientation: We solicited information from Waubonsee's full-time faculty, staff, and administrators regarding General Education requirements and their image of the "ideal" Waubonsee student.

Creation of the TOP MEASURE 09-01-2004

Once the results of these surveys were collected, Dr. Karen Stewart, Dean for Learning Resources and Stacey Randall, Outcomes Assessment Specialist, tried to find some patterns within the faculty responses. Using several educational theories including Bloom's Taxonomy and emotional intelligence, the "ideal" student characteristics were discussed. During the discussion, it became clear that the characteristics generally fell into several logical groups. Based on this discussion, we began to envision an outcomes model that would assist faculty in understanding and performing outcomes assessment. The goal was to come up with something that would be both holistic and measurable so that our faculty could use the model for the diverse courses, programs, and certificates that are offered at Waubonsee.

The TOP MEASURE is unveiled 11-03-2004

Once the model was drafted, the TOP leadership team, which consisted of Dr. Stewart; Dr. Jeanne McDonald, English Instructor; Dr. Jeanette Wampach, Nursing Instructor; and Stacey Randall, decided to discuss the model with the TOP Team in order to see if the model was both clear and effective in connecting Waubonsee's beliefs about the characteristics of an "ideal" Waubonsee student with measurable outcomes.

Spring Faculty Orientation 01-01-2005

The goal of the spring orientation session was to verify whether our understanding matched the intentions of the faculty and allow them to take ownership of the finished product (the TOP MEASURE). The Orientation session into three activities with the goal of walking faculty through the process of linking the "ideal" student characteristics with the broader categories to create a framework that could be used to measure outcomes.
